The British Bulldog is usually a wide, medium, and solid dog with short legs. The body as well as the head are massive with extra skin on both the skull and the forehead resulting in falling folds. The cheeks extend to the sides of the eyes and its mouth is short and wide with a broad jaw. Their teeth have an under bite. Their coat is short, smooth and glossy and their colours are red or white, piebald, pale yellow, fawn, and fallow or a combination of these colours. Their eyes are usually deep set and dark and their ears which are set high on the head are thin and small. Their tail can either be straight or screwed.
They can be intimidating looking dog, but it is among the gentlest breeds and due to the friendliness of their nature they get on with children and other household pets. As with any type of animal each bulldog has his or her unique personality and not all are the same. The major characteristic you are sure to find is their willingness to protect and care for their loved ones.
